Question on engines Empty Question on engines

I noticed a lot of engines to choose from when I put the engines in my Baltimore and Pepsicola (Pensa). You can put anything from a DD to BB engine in those things. Does anyone have expirence with trying different engines? I noticed the BB engines cost a lot, but took up little space and the hp was around 30-50K. Whereas the hp for heavy CA engines is around 100-130K. What happens when you put a DD or BB engine in a CA?

Is hp king? Does is equate to a faster ship? I didn't want to burn thru a bunch of credits trying out all the different engines, but in the mean time I stuck the USN CA III Heavy engine in with around 111K hp.

Thanks,

The different engines does play a big difference in your speed. In my experience (i did burn the credits to find out) it's better to stick with the engine that is made for your ship. Essentially the weight and horsepower of the engine isnt balanced out with the size of your ship and you will slow down.
